The Residual Way
Our method, which both delineates and accentuates the underlying performative structure of each event, aims to construct multisensorial and interdisciplinary experiences that heighten the affective state of the viewer. Through either creative consultation or project production we engage the following process:
1. Performative Translation
Through initial meetings between clients and Residual members the brand identity, as well the project goals, are identified. During this process, we aim to not only understand what our clients want, but embody it.
Residual is not a company that strives for virality through image-making, rather for novel tangible identity. How can this identity grow, shift, be experimented with, and be accessed by a multitude of viewers in a multifaceted way.
2. Formula Construction

Once the desired outcome for the brand is understood, we construct a considered formula of artists, space, and mediums In combining an eclectic, unpredictable combination of artistry and production, we move beyond the place of understanding into embodiment. Our formulas aim to produce an experience that is about more than the sum of its parts. One which offers the audience a reassurance that they have engaged and been engaged intimately.
3. Execution
In this stage, we execute all aspects of the generated formula. The impact is often noted as detail, a residual feature, an afterthought that forms the nucleus of an audience member's experience. These seemingly supplemental qualities are often what distinguishes an experience from a memory. A memory that has been crafted to an identity, born from the client.
